Romeo and Juliet: Themes to Consider

1.) The dangers of dishonesty. This is when one person may be stretching the truth or lying to somebody. When you lie there can be consequences. This is found in Romeo and Juliet when Juliet is going lie to her family and fake her death, which leads to Romeo’s death and officially her death. This example would be a theme of dangers of dishonesty. The event relates to the theme because Juliet was dishonest to Romeo by not telling him she was faking her death.

2.) Revenge leads to destruction.when one person who is angry at another person and their anger takes over. This takes place in the Romeo and Juliet play when Romeos crew shows at the party. Tybalt gets really mad and tries’s to get revenge on Romeo. ending up in two deaths. this would be and example of revenge leads to destruction.

3.) the strength of young love. the strength of young love means when two young individuals are in love. the strength in the title shows they will do anything to be together. in the story Romeo and Juliet it would take place with the kids themselves. they have an unstoppable bond with each other, told in the story and will do anything to be together even if the end result ends up in death. this is an example of the strength of young love.

4.) The uselessness of violence. when violence is used but not needed and can be worked out a different way. I saw this in the Romeo and Juliet play when Romes crew go’s to the party. angry Tybalt went straight to violence. this is a clear example of the uselessness of violence.

5.) The generation gap between young and old. this is the age difference of the parents kids. you can see this when Juliet wants to marry somebody that she picks. Her dad wants to go the traditional way and he wants to pick the husband. somebody who is rich and attractive. this is an example of the gap between young and old.
